Director

Geof Swain, MD, MPH - Geof started the WCHE in 2006 and remains its Director. He has been involved in issues relating to the social and economic determinants of health and in reducing health disparities through upstream, policy-level interventions for over a decade, including serving on multiple state health plan committees and teams focused on social determinants of health. He has extensive clinical, teaching, health policy, and leadership experience, including his appointment as academic medical faculty at UW-Madison, as Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer at the City of Milwaukee Health Department. Dr. Swain currently serves on the Wisconsin Public Health Association Policy Committee, and is involved with the national HRSA-funded “CoIIN” network to reduce socially determined disparities in birth outcomes, as well as Thrive WI, a statewide coalition of public health practitioners and community organizers.  Previously, he provided key leadership to the Social and Economic Factors subcommittees for the Wisconsin’s 2010 and 2020 State Health Plans, and served for 4 years on the Health Equity and Social Justice Strategic Direction Team of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).

Paula Tran Inzeo, MPH - Paula is the Director of the UW Mobilizing Action Towards Community Health (MATCH) Program.  Paula’s areas of research and practice focus on topics of health equity and health equity capacity building, collective community action, power building, and health in all policies. She brings a rich background of deep community engagement and applied research, including her previous work in the following capacities:
  • Assistant Director at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Community and Nonprofit Studies
  • Transform WI Health Equity Coordinator
  • Founding Coordinator of Thrive WI (statewide health equity alliance)
  • Founding Chair of the Wisconsin Public Health Association Health Impact Assessment/ Health in All Policies Section
  • Population Health Service Fellow with the Wisconsin Division of Public Health and Wisconsin Center for Health Equity
  • Health Promotion State Specialist at UW-Extension.

Victoria Faust, MPA
- Victoria is an Action Researcher and Evaluator with the Mobilizing Action Towards Community Health (MATCH) Group in the Population Health Institute at the University of Wisconsin. Victoria’s practice and scholarship focuses on health equity, civic engagement and collective action, empowerment and well-being, and organizational, policy, and systems change. Within the MATCH Group, she supports and evaluates health equity and health in all policies practice initiatives.  She has worked with municipalities and community organizations around Wisconsin to incorporate health equity, health in all policies, health impact assessments, and community leadership into their health promotion practice.
